Philosophy and Aspiration

The Department of Environment Engineering has the philosophy, aspiration and vision that are complementary with those of the Faculty of Engineering in turning out quality graduates and research works and in developing technologies appropriate for solving the nation’s environmental problems.  These are to be achieved through producing graduates and postgraduates with the knowledge and skill required by the environmental engineering sector, able to adopt suitable technologies in finding the solution to the environmental problems arising from industrial development and the growth of the population.  This should enable the development of the country to move forward with minimal serious environmental complications. Additionally, the department has also placed importance on environment related research and technical services offered to public and private sectors in the development of new technologies and in tackling environmental problems.  It has also fostered cooperative activities with institutions abroad to keep abreast of the progress in research and instruction programs at international level.

Mission

The primary mission of the Department of Environment Engineering, Faculty of Engineering comprises:

• Producing graduates
• Develop academic programs to produce graduates in accordance with the policies of the faculty and of the university.
• Develop the International Programs in preparation for the Asean community free access in tertiary education.

Student development

• Develop research and English language skill in under-and-post graduate students
• Improve academic and vocational proficiency through talks by experts in various fields and through technical excursions.

Research and Innovation

• Research of academic staff that responds to the needs of public and private sectors
• Support formation of inter and intra depart research group.
• Support student participation in research and academic services.
• Support publishing of academic outputs of students and staff both in the national and international level.
• Provision for research and teaching facilities.

Academic services

• The academic development programs.
• Service through academic consultancy and through committee membership.

Nurture and sustain arts and culture

• Organize activities for staff and students to nurture and sustain arts and cultureAdministration and management

• Organization of the department’s structure of operation.
• Meetings on making annual plan of operation and long-term plan by all personnel involved in the planning.
